Port Adelaide Plaza Primed for Growth

The Port Canal Shopping Centre redevelopment is about much more than a name change. The newly minted ‘Port Adelaide Plaza’ is set to redefine Port Adelaide; making it the largest retail and dining hub in Adelaide’s North West.
The $45 million-dollar redevelopment of the Port Canal Shopping Centre, which commenced in April this year, has seen leading supermarket retailer Aldi join existing retailers Kmart and Coles to be part of the new Centre, which will be rebranded as Port Adelaide Plaza.
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council continue their streetscape upgrade of Church Street (Old Port Road to Dale Street) with works focused around improving customer safety and pedestrian access. Works including a new pedestrian crossing linking the Centre to the additional " free" parking west of Church Street, new footpaths and new additional street lighting are well underway and scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
Through its continued commitment to customer convenience and safety, the Centre has also recently constructed a brand-new car park located to the South East of the Centre (adjacent the Port Adelaide train Station) featuring a further 75 car parking spaces, lighting and closed-circuit television.
Car park construction works have also commenced to the western side of Church Street which will include a further 38 car parking spaces, trolley bays, additional lighting together with closed-circuit television with completion scheduled early December.
Upon the projects’ completion, customers will welcome the increased car parking capacity, with numbers expecting to total over 1,000 FREE car parks. The Centre, rebranded as Port Adelaide Plaza will provide a new level of convenience for the community of Port Adelaide and surrounding suburbs offering over 50+ specialty stores including restaurants and cafes, services such as Australia Post, a medical centre, gym, a childcare centre together with a brand-new Aldi alongside Coles, Kmart, Liquorland and Kmart Tyre & Auto.
Stage One of the redevelopment, due for completion April 2019, will provide a unique dining precinct with a focus towards contemporary café culture, burger concepts, Japanese and Asian fusion. Set under wide awnings, featuring alfresco ceiling fans and gas heating within close proximity to the water, this opportunity will no doubt appeal to small business owners, hospitality entrepreneurs and franchisees alike.
