Get Smart and Shop Safe this Christmas
13 Nov 2020
After the year we’ve had, so many of us are looking forward to celebrating Christmas and the New Year with our family and friends, even if we will do things a little differently these holidays. We will also need to do our Christmas shopping a little differently too.
Here are a few tips to help you shop safely this year.
Planning ahead can not only save you time but it can also alleviate any stress you may feel about going to busy public places. First, check out our Christmas trading hours and think about visiting during off-peak times when there are fewer crowds and more parking spaces available. So that you know exactly where to go when you get here, check out our centre map prior to arriving.
Creating a shopping list before you shop is a great way to plan your trip and make it efficient. Try a good old paper list (and check it twice!) or if you are more tech-savvy, you can download apps such as MinimaList or Lists To Do to help you stay on track.
Check in to help out
When you visit some of our stores, cafés and restaurants, you may be asked to sign in or check in with a QR code. This is now common practice so that contact tracing can take place successfully if required. If you would like more information about this please visit our coronavirus information page and the latest government health information notice.
We encourage shoppers to wear a mask and to use the hand sanitiser provided throughout the centre and at all our stores. We also suggest that you carry travel-sized sanitiser with you, especially if you are shopping with kids – you can pick one up from Terry White Chemmart, Coles and Kmart.
Some of our retailers now offer low-touch or contact-free services including Click & Collect and car park pick-up. Visit your favourite store websites to find out more.
Please also observe social distancing guidelines, follow our COVID-safe signage and any directions from centre staff as you move throughout the centre. These safety measures are designed to protect you, our valued customers and our retailers.
Naughty or nice?
Earlier this year we saw The Great Toilet Paper Heist and other regrettable shopping behaviours. This holiday season, let’s remember to respect each other, be patient and considerate to fellow shoppers and spread some festive cheer. The team at Port Adelaide Plaza is working tirelessly to provide you with a healthy, safe and secure environment for an enjoyable Christmas shopping experience.
