Homefresh started as a local Adelaide pop-up store selling homewares and running Adelaide cooking classes. It quickly became obvious that customers were enjoying the cooking classes; the social interaction, the increase in kids’ confidence, the fun experiences and the bonds that were strengthened between mums, dads, carers, grandparents and kids all created a new direction for Homefresh.
As the popularity grew I began to realise the influence Homefresh was having on the kids. The surprise came when mums, dads, carers and grandparents witnessed the taste bud transformation, kids started to eat foods they refused to eat at home! This is the bit I love and can’t wait to share with many more as we progress to opening more stores.
Having spent my life in retail I realised that selling homewares was a dying option, so I embarked on a stand alone retail cooking school.
We developed the fresh cooked ready meals as a way to make ends meet in the start-up stage. These have also become extremely popular and are now an integral part of the business at a time when many of us have no time to cook and other ready meals are full of preservatives.
Homefresh has become a thriving business, catering for all manner of cooking experiences from NDIS classes to school holiday fun and corporate events.
